Your first visit
What can I expect?

Mindset Dental was established to provide a pathway to the health you want, and to help relieve your dental anxiety.
Taking time to understand each individual person's needs and fears is an essential first step of our unique approach.
By allowing us to understand you better, we are able to better help you.
This is why all new patients will start with a Consult and Checkup prior to booking any treatment appointments.
If you have a dental emergency, we will do our best to help you as soon as possible - but we will always check your entire mouth first at a separate visit.
What are my options for my first visit?
FIRST, you choose:
Appointment 1
New Patient Consult
+
Checkup
In-Person
$175
A chat in our consultation room plus a full checkup of your mouth. We can then develop a full treatment plan together.
OR
Appointment 1
Appointment 2
In-Person
$105
Checkup
New Patient Consult Only
In-Person or Telehealth
$95
Meet us and to build your confidence prior to having your teeth examined.
When you're ready, the next step is a separate Checkup appointment to develop a treatment plan.
THEN
Treatment Visits
All treatment, including any teeth cleaning, is booked for subsequent appointments.
Why is this the case?
Quick, poorly-planned treatment can contribute to worsening dental anxiety. This is the opposite of what we would like to achieve.
Without first understanding the full picture, we would just be providing band-aid treatments and continuously waiting for the band-aids to fall off.
What can I expect during my visit?

Arriving at Reception
When you arrive, you will enter into our welcoming Reception area. There is plenty of space and seating available.
If we are with another patient, the reception desk may be unattended. Please press the arrival button and we will be with you quickly to welcome you.
It helps us greatly if you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time - we will ask you to fill in a medical history form. There is also an optional form you may wish to fill in, to help us learn more about your previous experiences and any sensory preferences you have.
You are very welcome to relax with a hot or cold drink while you fill in your form, which you can then bring into our Consult room. There is also a toilet on site.

New Patient Consult
At Mindset Dental, we have a separate consultation room away from the dental chair to free you from distractions while we talk through what you want from your dental health.
Our first session with you will always start with a chat where we listen to you so that we can understand your situation and individual personal needs, well before we start planning any dental treatment.
We're on the journey with you and will never rush you. By allowing us to understand you better, you also allow us to better help you.

Checkup
Once you're feeling comfortable, we will move to our spacious treatment room. We will do a gentle and thorough checkup of the foundations of your mouth, to make sure we don't miss any pieces of the puzzle.
This includes
-
A close visual examination of all of your teeth and previous dental work
-
An assessment of your gum health, including checking for scale buildup
-
An oral cancer screening of your mouth and a health check of your jaw joints
-
X-rays of your teeth to see what's below the surface - these are low radiation and included in the checkup cost
-
A set of photos of your teeth to to demystify what's inside your mouth
